Veneers! Benefit from one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures, made in just one visit
At Strongsville Smile Keepers, we blend one of the most sought-after cosmetic dentistry procedures, porcelain veneers, with cutting-edge technology that supports the most convenient and stress-free experience for our valued patients in northern Ohio: Computer-aided same-day dentistry.
You may think of dental veneers as “artificial” enamel. These thin layers of prepared dental ceramic or porcelain can cover your chips and other surface irregularities. They may be used to disguise stains, discoloration, gaps, and uneven spacing. They can even transform a short, worn, or poorly-shaped tooth.
Ceramics like durable, lovely porcelain are a great “stand-in” for natural tooth enamel. The porcelain itself is designed to look just like our natural teeth, down to how the light bounces off of the surface of the material. It resists stains and is durable and strong. Furthermore, porcelain adheres incredibly well to the front surfaces of our teeth. Due to the latest bonding and tooth-preserving techniques, we can make your veneered teeth stronger than ever. The prepared veneer is “fixed” or secured to the tooth, which has been only slightly reduced to accommodate modern thin veneers. Once bonded to the tooth, the veneer bolsters its strength and can even prevent future fractures and damage.
About same-day veneers
Now, the conventional process of getting veneers starts with dentists like our own Dr. Matt Gaebelein evaluating the condition of your teeth, gums, and mouth. Furthermore, he will discuss what you like and don’t like about your smile. If your mouth is healthy and you want to move forward with the process, a small amount of enamel is typically removed from the teeth to be treated with veneers. Impressions are made and used by an outside lab to fabricate your permanent veneers. Temporaries are usually worn while the lab ceramists are making your permanent restoration. After around two weeks, you would return to the office. If all looked and felt right, the permanent would be cemented to the prepared tooth.
At Strongsville Smile Keepers, we have eliminated the outside lab. We use computer-aided design (CAD) software and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) equipment to handle every aspect of the veneers process. Prepared teeth are scanned non-invasively by using cutting-edge diagnostic tools. Then, information about your teeth is fed to the computer. Specialized software is used to make a 3D model of your mouth and to precisely design your veneers. This information is then transferred to our onsite milling machine, which shapes the veneer from a high-quality block of dental ceramic. We can then refine the veneer as needed and in a matter of minutes before bonding it securely into place.
With same-day dentistry, a process that would normally take at least two or three appointments has now been reduced to a single visit. There is no need for return trips or cumbersome temporaries. Plus, we have minimized the imprecise impression-taking and human error associated with the traditional fabrication process. Our patients love the ease of, and the outcomes from, this high-tech approach to restorative treatments – from veneers to dental crowns.
