Notably, our dentist, Dr. Matt Gaebelein, can make crowns and other dental restorations same day, while you wait, and in just one visit.
How this process is different from other practices
To really appreciate our technology-driven approach to preserving and rebuilding teeth is to understand the ātraditionalā and comparatively time-consuming and stressful alternative to making dental restorations. Historically, patients who needed to rebuild a portion of their teeth would visit us at least two times. The first appointment would involve preparing the natural tooth. This largely meant removing the damaged tissue and reshaping the tooth to āacceptā the crown or other restoration.
The restoration itself is prepared by taking impressions or models of the reshaped and reduced tooth. Any information about the tooth is then sent to an outside lab. You would generally wear a temporary crown to protect the treatment site while the permanent one is being made in the lab. This process could take more than two weeks.
After the crown is ready, you will return to our office. The permanent would then be secured to the tooth only if it fits and looks right. If the crown requires adjustments, the process of making the tooth would be redone. You would need to wait weeks again for the re-made crown to be placed. This would result in a third visit to our office.

Strongsville Smile Keepers has taken all of the external lab functions and brought them in-house. We can perform all aspects of the crown- and restoration-making process under our roof. The āmagicā comes from our use of CAD-CAM techniques and technologies. The computer-aided design uses special software to transform information about the tooth into a 3-dimensional model of the tooth. Dr. Gaebelein can design your crown in a digital environment. Furthermore, computer-aided manufacturing allows for all of the digital information to be transferred to our onsite milling machine. This machine then fabricates the crown from a durable and highly aesthetic block of dental ceramic. All this can be done in a matter of minutes, with āre-dosā also completed while you wait. As you can see, there are many benefits to same-day crowns. They include:
- A convenient and fast process
- Travel hassles are minimized
- It avoids the costs of fuel, transportation to and from our office
- Reduces the āhuman errorā associated with the process
- Results in optimal treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction
- Highly aesthetic results
- Strong restorations last and last
- Our ceramics are highly compatible and appropriate for patients with metals sensitivities
Our use of CAD-CAM dentistry with the CEREC system is also versatile; we can treat many different patients with varying needs using this technology. For instance, inlays, and onlays may be appropriate for patients with less extensive decay and damage to the teeth. Likewise, patients with more extensive needs may benefit from CEREC same-day dentistry. We can even replace teeth with dental bridges, made while you wait from the comfort of our inviting and well-appointed office in Strongsville, OH.
