Botox® at the dentist’s office, unleash more than your prettiest smile!
There are more than 500 “general dentists” in the greater Cleveland area. So, at Strongsville Smile Keepers, we appreciate that you have a “choice” regarding dental practitioners in northern Ohio. We are privileged to distinguish ourselves from other dental offices, near and far, with an array of modern oral and maxillofacial services that cannot be found elsewhere.
Notably, our dentist, Dr. Matt Gaebelein, is trained in the safe and precise use of Botox®.
While this product is most famously used to soften crow’s feet, frown lines, and other folds caused by repeated facial expressions, Botox® is actually rooted in clinical applications (for treating conditions such as strabismus and cervical dystonia). Furthermore, there are numerous applications for this solution, formulated with the botulinum toxin protein, at the dental office.
Botox® works by being injected carefully into precise points of the face through thin needles. Once injected, this formulation blocks the neurotransmitters communicating with your muscles and telling them to contract. When those muscle tissues do not receive the message, the contraction does not occur. Instead, the muscles stay relaxed. When a muscle remains at ease, it cannot produce expression lines; for instance, repeated behaviors like squinting give rise to crow’s feet or folds around the eyes.
Of course, Botox® is highly technique-specific. Favorable and natural-looking treatment outcomes are supported when just the right amount of it is administered to just the right points of the face. Other muscles are still able to contract outside of the treatment. You don’t have to worry about “frozen face” at our office when under the care of an expert in oral and maxillofacial anatomy and function like Dr. Gaebelein.
The many benefits of care at Strongsville Smile Keepers
In addition to our considerable knowledge of facial anatomy and muscular function, our team has acquired advanced training in additional cosmetic injectable products that can also bring out the best in your smile and face. Further, as an innovative practice, we may use Botox® to ease the symptoms of, and improve the function, associated with conditions ranging from bruxism (chronic teeth grinding) to temporomandibular joint dysfunction or disorders (TMJDs). More on these applications:
- Botox® can ease the discomfort, jaw pain, headaches, earaches, and other side effects of TMJDs and bruxism – conditions that stress the jaw joints and interconnected tissues
- Address complications from chronic bruxism; for example, overstressed masseter muscles can become so overused that they “bulk up” and alter the shape of the face resulting in a heavy lower third of the face, or an overly square shape
- “Retrain” facial muscles as patients adjust or transition to wearing dentures, orthodontics, and other oral appliances
So, Botox® at the dentist’s practice is versatile and helpful for many different types of patients. We can soften lines that take away from your beautiful smile as effortlessly as we may ease facial pain, restore an attractive facial contour and balance, and aid in adjusting to transformative oral and restorative appliances. Dramatic results can be achieved in days, and treatment is non-invasive and doesn’t require time off of work or demands on your body for healing.
