Restoring one tooth to a mouthful of teeth … dental implants look, feel, and function like the “real deal”

Our team at Strongsville Smile Keepers is proud to offer the “best” modern dentistry has to replace failing or missing teeth: dental implants. Additionally, our dentist, Dr. Matthew Gaebelein, provides many advanced services to help individuals who might otherwise not be good candidates for the implant process.

The ultimate tooth replacement

The dental implant is a small, cylindrical-shaped structure. It is made of a non-toxic material designed to naturally and safely join the surrounding tissues. Notably, titanium is a material of choice for medical implants. Medical-grade titanium is both strong and lightweight. Once positioned in the jawbone precisely by Dr. Gaebelein, the titanium in the implant integrates into the bone. So, it becomes a part of the jaw.

Later, once the bone has healed, the replacement tooth is connected to the implant. The implant, in turn, provides a strong foundation for the prosthetic. It functions like a tooth root. One implant may be used to stabilize a single replacement tooth. Or, a few implants may be applied to support several teeth. An entire dental arch (upper or lower jaw) of teeth can also be restored with nominal, carefully-placed implants. Dentures or “overdentures” can snap onto the implants among those who are missing most or all of their teeth.

More on what to expect from choice tooth replacement

3D Crown

Implant-supported or implant-retained crowns, bridges, and dentures boast many benefits. These prosthetics are connected to the jaw by way of the implant. So they are secure. Many of the complaints associated with conventional dentures, such as discomfort due to a loose fit, are avoided. Furthermore, Dr. Gaebelein and our team promote lasting satisfaction with patients’ new teeth; implants keep the bone in the jaw strong. Devastating bone loss is avoided. Patients enjoy the most natural chewing function.

Strongsville Smile Keepers is equipped to handle more modest replacement of a single tooth and more complex full-arch tooth replacement. Largely, the implants process involves:

  • Skillful planning – Dr. Gaebelein uses the latest diagnostic tools, such as 3D CBCT imaging, to determine where to place the implants to make the most out of each artificial tooth root. Furthermore, we can determine if bone loss is present that requires additional “steps” (such as grafting).
  • Implants placement – Using the “roadmap” created in the first step above, our dentist positions each implant in the jaw. This procedure is straightforward and well-tolerated. When as few as four implants are placed to support an entire arch, these systems are called “All-on-4”, placed by an oral surgeon. This approach minimizes the number of surgical sites in the mouth. At this point, we may even be able to attach temporary teeth to the implants. So, you never have to be seen in public or grapple with toothlessness.
  • Healing and restoration – In the following months, the implant(s) will osseointegrate to the bony tissue in the jaw. Once the bone has healed, and the prosthetic is ready, Dr. Gaebelein will attach your new teeth to the implants.
  • Smile! – Implant-retained teeth can last a lifetime with good oral hygiene at home and regular professional visits to our office in Strongsville, Ohio.

Many Happy Faces

Dental implants are titanium roots, that are replaced with in the jawbone to resemble a tooth or group of teeth. A screw is inserted through the gums and into the jawbone. A porcelain crown is then attached to the screw to become the new tooth or teeth. They can be used to support dental prosthesis including crowns, dentures, and bridges. Today’s treatments are so natural looking, no one will know you had surgery. There’s approximately a 95% success rate for all implants. With modern advances in dentistry, some implants can be restored immediately with life like all porcelain crowns. For more details ask your dentist.
